When considering which education to send your children too, there are countless options in the Augusta area. To learn all about the premiere parish day school, Mead Hall Episcopal School, read the article below!
Mead Hall School was established in 1955 as a parish day school. In 2012, Mead Hall joined forces with Aiken Preparatory School, which was founded in 1916 as a boarding school for 4th to 8th grade boys. The joining of these two independent schools formed a single K-12 program on two campuses in downtown Aiken. Today Mead Hall serves over 300 students with a variety of interests in academic, athletic and extra-curricular interests. Small class sizes and a college curriculum help prepare students for a successful future. Accredited through the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), Mead Hall School is a great choice for all of your children.
Students from pre-school through graduation are encouraged with a traditional curriculum and inquiry -based learning techniques to create a foundation for a love of life-long learning. The curriculum develops global knowledge as well as local community learnings. The Christian culture at Mead Hall is evident in the way the lead and develop students by combining education and worship daily.
Active learning through interactive play is how PS, PK and Kindergarten students improve gross motor skills and reach academic benchmarks. One-on-one specialized individual focus due to small class sizes and highly engaged and educated staff are just a few advantages of Mead Hall.
The focus during the early years is preparation for the more difficult upper-level classes. The knowledgeable staff encourages researching, experimenting, collaborating and reporting to keep students fully engaged in the learning process. There are many additional activities. Examples include, guest speakers, field trips, community service, weekly art, music, PE, media classes and sacred studies.
The middle school curriculum focuses on providing the academic foundation for success in upper school and college. The primary attention is on communication through english language arts, critical thinking in math and science and the development of self-expression through fine-art classes. Fine-art choices are visual arts, band and drama. Robotics, sacred studies, PE and technology are just a few of the quarterly offerings for students to choose from.
The upper school’s rigorous curriculum is designed to help students achieve acceptance into most colleges and universities. Students are eligible to take dual enrollment classes at the University of South Carolina, Aiken campus. One of the main focuses is on developing their reasoning and analysis skills. In the fall, all students participate in a senior project that utilizes their research and writing skills. Presentation of these skills will take place each Spring.
