When did you start Minnow Made? What inspired the start of your small business?

Minnow Made was officially opened in September 2020. I had been embroidering for years prior but just didn’t have the passion to open a shop. My first son Jameson was born in 2018. Thankfully, I was blessed to be able to spend the first year of his life at home 100% with him. Then when we found out we were pregnant with Hendrix, financial decisions had to be made for our family. After so many prayers, tears and fear, I decided to step out and start Minnow Made. As a stay at home mama of two boys under 2, this was a scary decision. Going on 3 years later, I am still home with my boys and running the shop full time!

How long has Minnow Made been open? Who do you serve?

Minnow Made is an all-encompassing embroidery shop that specializes in children and adult apparel. Typically twice a month we have a themed/seasonal release that is opened up for ordering. One thing that truly sets us apart is that our designs are stitched and designed at my home. This allows orders to be fulfilled in 2-3 weeks from the time the order is placed.

All products are stitched by me in my home in Martinez. I offer porch pickup to my local mamas. I also offer have flat rate shipping available for my mamas that may not be local. To support my shop, it is best to join our Facebook group to shop open releases.

What does it look like to work with Minnow Made? How can we shop with you or support Minnow Made? 

There are multiple steps that I perform to complete each piece of apparel. From invoicing, to ordering blanks, to sorting the blanks, to fabric prep work, to hand-trimming fabric, to pressing the mesh backing on the item and finally to packaging for shipping. The process of embroidery is definitely a tedious, detail focused and time consuming hobby; but I love it! As the boys are getting older (4 and 3), I love being able to involve them in the process. Their favorite jobs are sorting the blanks, so we can practice colors and numbers, and walking the packages to the pickup basket/mailbox. When you shop Minnow Made, you are supporting a mama who has always dreamed of being a stay at home mama; except now I get to be a work from home mama who gets to do what I love and minister to so many mamas and littles along the journey.

Is there anything else you would like us to know about Minnow Made?

The days, months and years are not always easy. If there is one thing that I have learned, it’s that I must trust the process. When I stepped out on the adventure I handed it all over to Christ to carry me through. He has been so faithful even on the days when I try to just handle it all myself and eventually crumble.

It is my greatest prayer that the Lord will continue to use me as a vessel to minister to all those I create for. When you receive a package from Minnow Made, customers know every piece has love and pknow that every item is created with love and prayed for before it leaves my home.
