Now that everyone knows about this precious new baby coming soon, it is time to start preparing! As your Atlanta maternity photographer, I always recommend my moms to start planning for birth as early as the first completion of the first trimester! While you are researching a doula for your birth, check out these incredible ladies at Atlanta Birth Doula. They are a great resource for you both during birth and postpartum.

Atlanta Birth Doula

Lead by Stephanie W., Atlanta Birth Doula is composed of five birth and postpartum doulas to help you with your next birth. While all of them have slightly different services, they are all there to accompany you through your birth by providing emotional support and physical comfort.

Some of their services provided include 1-2 prenatal visits in your home, phone/text/email support, creating a personalized birth plan, labor support, immediate postpartum support as well as initial nursing support, and video/photo as allow. They will also check up on you at an in-home postpartum visit in 1-4 weeks.

Whether you are having your first or sixth, Stephanie is there to help you have the best possible experience bring your new baby into the world.

Monica

She will be there from your first two prenatal appointments through your birth as well as immediately following your birth for 1-2 hours. In addition to assisting with your birth, Monica also offers breastfeeding support, light household tasks, and assistance with after-birth healing.

Charmaine McNeil

She will be there with you to help you make all of your decisions regarding interventions, pain options and comfort measures.

Certified in TENS unit therapy, Alycia has many non-medical pain-relieving techniques to help you with your birth. TENS therapy, massage, counter pressure, and physical assistance with movement are just a few ways she can help with your pain during birth.

In addition to prenatal visits, birth resources while preparing for birth, full in-labor support and immediate postpartum support, Alycia also offers baby-wearing consultations, baby register consultations and lactation support.

Katrina is certified by Childbirth International (CBI) and is trained in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. She has many years of experience with VBAC’s and high-risk pregnancy so she is able to better assist all of her pregnant moms.

When you hire Katrina as your doula, she will be there from the first two prenatal visits to working on your birth plan to full birth support. After birth, she will be there immediately following the 1-2 hours for postnatal support. Katrina will also be there for you at an in-home postnatal follow up visit 1-4 weeks postpartum.

Postpartum Doula

In addition to having a doula at your next birth, having a postpartum doula can also make the transition to motherhood much smoother (and less tiring!). They will be there to support you during your 4th trimester while you adjust to this precious new little baby.

Encouraging and supporting breastfeeding, helping everyone stay nourished and hydrated, running short errands, light cooking and meal prep light cleaning and helping with light household tasks are just a few tasks postpartum doulas assist with.

Stephanie, Charmaine and Katie are three postpartum doulas through Atlanta Birth Doula. Any of these three will help you create a great support system for after birth.

I want this group to become a second family for you to go to when you need a friend. Occasionally I will also share pieces of information on meal planning, budgeting, session information and how to get better iPhone pictures of your children!
